Our first month (as a 2 dog household)

by Megan on January 28, 2013

With all of the drama surrounding Gracie’s health this past week, it never dawned on me that we had missed Sherlock’s one month adopt-a-versary.  It has been a crazy month that has involved lots of cleaning, not much sleep and an endless amount of sweet puppy kisses.

In honor of having the little guy a month and managing to not completely lose our minds, I have compiled a list:

  • Dog beds ruined due to housebreaking issues: 2
  • Hours of sleep lost by humans in the house: Many
  • Times I have cleaned dog vomit out of a vehicle: 3

  • Number of disputes over a toy: 2
  • Average time we are woken up in the morning (weekends included): 5AM
  • Visits to the vet (for both dogs): 6
  • Times walked per day: 3 to 4
  • Number of neighbors who may think that I am unstable after witnessing me lose my mind while out on a walk with both dogs: 1

Sherlock at Dogs at Play.  See the other dog in the photo?  That is precisely how Danny, Gracie and myself all feel after a day with Sherlock.

So, yes, it has been a somewhat exhausting (and expensive) month with Sherlock.  But, at the end of the day, when he jumps on the sofa with me and worms his way up to put his head on my chest I always give him a kiss and let him know that we are happy to have him in the family.

Happy one month Adopt-a-versary buddy! It has been a long month and hasn’t always been easy having you in the house, but, we are going to figure it out .

Now, how about you let me sleep in this weekend?
